Elena — Lighthouse Collector

Background

Elena is in her early 40s and lives in the Pacific Northwest. She is detail-oriented and methodical — she double-checks visiting hours and weather forecasts before every trip. She keeps a waterproof notebook as a backup to the app.

She uses the Lighthouses app on her iPhone 14, on the Free tier.

Goals

  • Track her growing collection of 142 visited lighthouses with accurate dates
  • Research upcoming regions and plan visits before each trip
  • Use community ratings to prioritize which lighthouses are worth the detour

How She Uses the App

Elena always starts her sessions on the map, zoomed to her next planned region. She scans the markers, checks community ratings for anything she hasn't visited, and adds promising lighthouses to her bucket list. Sessions average 12 minutes.

She has 23 bucket list items organized by state with visit notes. Her two favorite lighthouses are Pendleton Harbor Light (Oregon) and Portland Head Light (Maine) — Portland Head got 5.0 stars from her for both Scenery and Photo Opportunities.

She is a careful rater: she rates every visited lighthouse across all 4 categories and considers each dimension separately before submitting.

Tier

Free. All of Elena's core workflows (directory browsing, map, visit tracking, bucket list, ratings) are fully supported on the Free tier. She has not needed cloud sync since she uses only one device.

Device

iOS (iPhone 14), English locale.
