Troubleshooting

Login & Authentication

I can't sign in — the screen just spins

  1. Check your internet connection. First-time login requires network access.
  2. Force-close the app and reopen it, then try signing in again.
  3. Verify your email and password are correct. Tap "Forgot password?" to reset if needed.
  4. If you're on a corporate or restricted network, the authentication service may be blocked. Try switching to mobile data.

I'm getting "Invalid credentials" even though my password is correct

Your password may have been reset recently. Tap "Forgot password?" on the login screen and follow the reset flow. If you use Sign in with Google or Apple, use that button instead of email/password.

I was signed in and now I'm not

Sessions expire after extended inactivity. Simply sign in again — your local data is preserved. If your memories are missing after signing back in, allow a few seconds for sync to complete.

I see "Account not authorized"

This usually means your account was created but not confirmed. Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for a verification email from Edgeless Media. Tap the confirmation link, then try signing in again.

Sync & Offline

My memories aren't syncing to my other device

  1. Confirm both devices are signed in to the same account (Settings → Profile → Account).
  2. Check that both devices have an active internet connection.
  3. Open the app on both devices and wait 30 seconds. Sync is automatic but may take a moment after reconnecting.
  4. Force-close and reopen the app to trigger a manual sync check.

I edited a memory on two devices and now one version is missing

Memoryish resolves sync conflicts by keeping the most recently edited version. If you need to recover older content, it may be available in a recent JSON export. Going forward, finish editing on one device before switching to another.

I'm offline and the app shows an error

You can capture, browse, and edit memories fully offline. If you see an error while offline, it's likely related to a feature that requires a connection (such as AI Import). All core memory features work without internet. Your changes will sync when connectivity returns.

Missing or Incorrect Data

A memory I saved is not in the list

  • Check that you didn't accidentally apply a search filter. Tap the filter icon in Memories and clear all active filters.
  • Pull down to refresh the Memories list to trigger a sync.
  • If the memory was created offline, check that sync has completed (a brief spinner may appear in the top bar).

My fuzzy date is showing in the wrong position on the Timeline

The Timeline positions fuzzy dates at the midpoint of their descriptor window. "Sometime in spring" maps to approximately April–May of the given year. If the position looks wrong, edit the memory and adjust the year or descriptor to better match your recollection.

A place I linked isn't showing on the Whereline

Only memories linked to a place via the whereish picker (continent → country → state/city) appear as pins. If you typed a location in the memory text but didn't use the whereish picker, no pin is created. Edit the memory and add a place using the entity chip bar.

Export Issues

My JSON export is empty or incomplete

  • Ensure you selected the correct scope. "All Memories" exports everything; "By Journey" exports only the memories in that journey.
  • Try the export again — if a sync was in progress during generation, some items may have been missed.
  • If you're on the Free tier and have hit your monthly export limit, wait until the limit resets or upgrade to Plus for unlimited exports.

My PDF is missing memories

PDF exports respect any journey filter you applied. If you selected "By Journey," only those memories are included by design. Select "All Memories" for a complete PDF.

PDF text looks cut off at large font sizes

PDF generation respects the standard system font size, not your in-app font scale setting. This is expected behavior. The resulting PDF will read normally at standard zoom in any PDF viewer.

Subscription & Billing

I upgraded to Plus but the features are still gated

  1. Force-close the app and reopen it.
  2. Go to Settings → Profile → Subscription and confirm your tier shows "Plus" or "Pro."
  3. If it still shows "Free," tap "Restore Purchases" on the subscription screen.
  4. If the issue persists, contact support. Include your account email and the date of purchase.

I want to cancel my subscription

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), not within Memoryish. Cancel any time through your device's subscription management screen. Your Plus or Pro access remains active until the end of the current billing period.

I was charged but I don't see an upgrade

Billing goes through Apple or Google. Check your purchase history in the App Store or Play Store. Tap "Restore Purchases" in Settings → Subscription. If the charge appears in your purchase history but the tier hasn't updated, contact support with your receipt.

Performance

The app is slow or freezes when I open the Timeline

The Timeline renders all memories at once. If you have a large archive (500+ memories), zooming and panning may be slower on older devices. Try zooming in to a specific decade rather than viewing the full span. We're continually optimizing performance for large archives.

The app is slow to start

On first launch after an update, the local database may run a migration. This is a one-time process and should complete in under 30 seconds. Subsequent launches will be fast.

Shared Shell Features

App Startup and Loading

App stuck on splash screen? The splash screen displays while Memoryish initializes your local database and verifies your session. This normally takes under 5 seconds.

If it takes longer:

  1. Tap the Retry button that appears after 10 seconds.
  2. Force-close Memoryish and reopen it.
  3. Make sure you have the latest version installed (App Store / Google Play → Updates).
  4. Check your internet connection — the first launch and session validation require network access.

If the problem persists after these steps, go to Settings → Help & Feedback and submit a bug report, or contact support at the link below.

Still Need Help?

Go to Settings → Help & Feedback to submit a bug report (with an optional screenshot) or a feature request. The Memoryish team reviews all submissions.
