Troubleshooting
Sign-In and Account Issues
I want to sign in but can't find a login screen
Better Sleep uses anonymous-first authentication — there is no login screen on first launch. To sign in, go to Settings and look for the "Sign In" option. You can sign in with Google, Apple, or a magic link email. Signing in is optional; your local data is already saved to an anonymous session and will transfer to your real account when you sign in.
I signed in but my sleep logs are missing
This can happen if you signed in with a different account than the one you used when you made your original purchase or first used the app. Check your email in Settings to confirm you're signed in with the correct account. Each account has its own data — signing into a new account starts with a fresh history.
I'm trying to link my account during the ad-free purchase but it keeps failing
If the sign-in window closes without completing (network drop or cancellation), the app will show an error: "Couldn't complete sign-in. Your data is safe." Your anonymous session and all your data are preserved — no charge occurred and no partial state was created. Tap "Try Again" when your connection is stable.
My session keeps getting logged out
Auth tokens are stored locally and should persist across app restarts. If you're being logged out unexpectedly, try: (1) updating to the latest version of the app, (2) checking that your device has available storage, (3) on iOS, ensuring the app is allowed to use the keychain (Settings → Privacy). If the issue continues, sign out from Settings, close the app, reopen it, and sign in again.
Sleep Log Issues
My sleep log entry form keeps showing the wrong default bedtime
The bedtime field pre-fills from your previous log entry. If you've edited or deleted a past entry, the pre-fill reflects the most recent remaining entry. If you just onboarded and haven't logged before, the pre-fill uses your quiz answer for usual bedtime. You can always adjust the time using the time picker before saving.
I saved a sleep log with the wrong times
Open the Sleep tab, tap the entry you want to correct, and it will open in edit mode with all fields pre-filled. Adjust the times and quality rating, then save. The duration is recalculated automatically from the new times.
My sleep history is empty after reinstalling the app
Sleep log data is stored locally on your device (all tiers). Reinstalling the app clears local data. To recover data after a reinstall, you need a Plus subscription (Tier C) with cloud sync enabled and an account linked before the reinstall. If you were on Free or Ad-Free without sync, your log history cannot be recovered.
Routine and Streak Issues
My streak reset even though I completed my routine
Streaks are based on consecutive calendar days. If you complete your routine but it crosses midnight — for example, you check off the last step after midnight — it may count toward the next day. Ensure you check off your routine steps before midnight for the streak to count on the current day. Streaks also reset if you miss a day, regardless of how long the streak was.
The custom routine builder shows a paywall but I'm already subscribed
Pull down to refresh on the Routines tab to force a subscription status check. If the paywall persists, sign out from Settings and sign back in — this forces a fresh subscription verification. Make sure you're signed in with the account attached to your subscription. If you subscribed on Android and the Play Store subscription is active, a reinstall should restore it via "Restore Purchases" in Settings.
I can't reorder my custom routine steps by drag-and-drop
The routine builder also supports move-up and move-down buttons next to each step, which work without precise drag-and-drop gestures. Look for the arrow controls on each step row. If drag-and-drop isn't working on your device, use these buttons instead.
Trend Charts
My trend charts aren't showing any data
Trend charts require at least 3 sleep log entries before they populate. Check your Sleep tab history — if you have fewer than 3 entries, the chart shows an empty state with guidance to log a few more nights. Once you have enough data, charts appear automatically.
The 14-day and 30-day ranges are locked
Extended time ranges (14 days and 30 days) require a Plus subscription (Tier C). If you see a lock icon on those range options, upgrade from Settings → Subscribe. The 7-day view is available to all tiers.
Subscription and Billing
How do I restore my ad-free purchase after reinstalling?
Go to Settings and tap Restore Purchases. The app checks your App Store or Google Play account for your original non-consumable purchase and restores ad-free status. Make sure you're signed into the same App Store or Google Play account you used when you originally purchased.
I subscribed to Plus but my custom routines are still locked
After subscribing, pull down to refresh in the app to force a subscription status update. If the features remain locked, sign out from Settings and sign back in with the account you subscribed with. If you subscribed on iOS via App Store and the subscription is active in your App Store account, "Restore Purchases" in Settings will re-verify it.
How do I cancel my Plus subscription?
Better Sleep subscriptions are managed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android). To cancel: on iOS, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions and find Better Sleep. On Android, go to Google Play → Subscriptions and find Better Sleep. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current billing period — you keep Plus access until then.
Notifications
The morning reminder notification isn't arriving
Check that notifications are enabled for Better Sleep in your device's system settings (iOS: Settings → Better Sleep → Notifications; Android: Settings → Apps → Better Sleep → Notifications). Also verify the reminder time is configured in the app under Settings → Notifications. If the reminder was recently changed, it may take until the next scheduled time to fire.
Contacting Support
If none of the above resolves your issue, go to Settings and tap Report a Bug. Include your device model, OS version, and a description of the steps that led to the problem. For subscription billing issues, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support directly as Edgeless Media does not process those payments.
