How to Build a Custom Routine (Plus)
Who this is for: Plus subscribers who want a routine tailored to their specific needs rather than a pre-built template.
Constance, a semi-retired postal worker whose retirement disrupted her sleep schedule, has been using the Wind Down template for two months. The templates were "close but not quite right" — she wants herbal tea, gentle stretching, reading, and a lavender diffuser in her specific order.
Steps
- Navigate to the Routines tab using the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap "Create Custom Routine." (This option is only visible to Plus subscribers. Free and Ad-Free users see a prompt to subscribe.)
- Browse the activity library. Activities are organized by category:
- Relaxation: herbal tea, aromatherapy, breathing exercise, sleep music, warm bath/shower
- Physical: light stretch, foam roll, yoga
- Environment: dim lights, stop screens, set thermostat, lavender diffuser
- Mindfulness: journal, meditation, gratitude practice, read
- Select your activities. Tap each activity you want to include. Selected activities appear in a staging list.
- Reorder your activities. Drag-and-drop to arrange them in the order you'll follow them. Move-up and move-down buttons are also available for those who prefer not to drag.
- Adjust durations. Tap each activity to change its suggested duration if needed.
- Name your routine. Enter a name that's meaningful to you.
- Tap Save. The custom routine appears alongside templates in your routine list.
- Set it as your active routine. Tap the new routine and select "Set as Active Evening Routine" (or morning, depending on your choice).
Expected Outcome
Your custom routine appears on the Home tab as a checklist. It works identically to a pre-built template — check off steps, mark complete, earn streak days.
Notes
- You can create multiple custom routines and switch between them at any time.
- Custom routines can be edited or deleted from the Routines tab.
- The activity library has 20+ activities across the four categories. You can include as few or as many as you like.
