How to Sync Your Bucket List Across Devices

Who this is for: Tier C subscribers who use the app on multiple devices (phone and tablet, for example).

Marcus uses his Pixel phone and a Samsung tablet interchangeably. He wants any item he adds or updates on one device to appear on the other automatically.

Steps

  1. Ensure you have an active Tier C subscription and are signed in with the same account on both devices.
  2. Make a change on Device 1 — for example, add a new item or check off a sub-task.
  3. Watch the sync status indicator. On the main list screen, the sync status briefly shows "syncing" and then "synced."
  4. Pick up Device 2. Open the app — the change appears automatically. If the app was already open, pull down to refresh or wait for the foreground sync (which triggers automatically when the app comes to the foreground).

How Sync Works

  • Changes sync automatically when your device has connectivity.
  • Sync also triggers when the app comes to the foreground after being backgrounded.
  • If a conflict occurs (the same item edited on both devices), the last write wins based on server timestamp.
  • Sync status shows: synced (all changes uploaded), syncing (in progress), pending changes (queued, waiting for connectivity), or sync error (see Troubleshooting).

Expected Outcome

Items created or updated on one device appear on the other within seconds, assuming both devices are online. The sync status indicator confirms the sync state at all times.

Notes

  • All on-device features (CRUD, search, sub-tasks, budgets, reflections) work offline for all tiers. Sync is additive — it layers on top of the local database.
  • If you reinstall the app on a device and sign in, all your items sync down automatically.
  • To check sync status manually, pull down to refresh on the main list screen.
