Troubleshooting

Sign-In and Account Issues

I can't sign in with Google or Apple

  1. Check your internet connection — sign-in requires network access.
  2. Make sure you're using the same Google or Apple account you originally linked.
  3. Close the app completely and reopen it, then try again.
  4. For Apple Sign-In: go to your device Settings → your name → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID and confirm the app is listed. If it was removed, you'll need to sign in again and it will be treated as a new account.
  5. For Google Sign-In on Android: make sure the Google account is active on your device in Settings → Accounts.

I signed in but my data is missing

  • Check that you're signed into the same account (verify the email shown in Profile).
  • Data stored under an anonymous session is only linked to your account if you upgraded your session before signing out. If you signed out while anonymous, that session's data cannot be recovered.
  • If you recently reinstalled the app on the same device with the same account, your data should sync back down from the cloud within a few minutes (Plus/Pro tier only). Pull down on the Tracking tab to force a sync.

I accidentally signed out — is my anonymous data gone?

Anonymous session data is stored locally on your device. If the app is still installed and you haven't cleared its data, your processes and items are still there — the app will resume an anonymous session when you reopen it. If you reinstalled the app or cleared its storage, anonymous data cannot be recovered (it was never uploaded to the cloud).

Sync Issues (Plus and Pro subscribers)

My processes or items aren't appearing on my second device

  1. Confirm you're signed into the same account on both devices (check Profile on each).
  2. Check that both devices have an active internet connection.
  3. On the device where data was created, pull down on the Tracking tab to force a sync push.
  4. On the receiving device, pull down on the Tracking tab to force a sync pull.
  5. If data is still missing after 5 minutes, sign out and sign back in on the receiving device.

Changes I made offline aren't syncing

Offline changes are stored locally with syncStatus = pending and push to the cloud automatically when your device reconnects. If a sync isn't happening after reconnecting:

  1. Check your connection — the sync indicator (top of screen) shows when sync is active.
  2. Force a sync by pulling down on the Tracking tab.
  3. If the pending indicator stays indefinitely, sign out and sign back in.

I see a sync conflict — which version is kept?

The app uses last-write-wins based on updatedAt timestamps. The most recently modified version of an item wins. No data is permanently deleted during conflicts.

Offline Mode

The app shows an offline banner but my device has Wi-Fi

The offline banner reflects the app's connectivity status, not your device's Wi-Fi status. This can happen if:

  • Your Wi-Fi has no internet access (connected to router, no upstream connection)
  • A captive portal is blocking traffic
  • The Edgeless Platform servers are temporarily unreachable

All core features work fully while offline. The banner is informational only.

My timing data seems wrong after working offline

Timing is calculated from stage transition timestamps captured at the moment you tap "Move to Next Stage." If your device clock was incorrect when you transitioned stages offline, the timing calculation will reflect that. There is no way to manually edit timestamps.

Subscriptions

I subscribed to Plus but sync is still not working

  1. Sign out and sign back in — this refreshes your subscription status.
  2. Confirm the subscription is active by checking your App Store or Google Play subscription management.
  3. Check that you subscribed using the same account you're signed into in the app.

I purchased Ad-free but ads are still showing

  1. Make sure you completed the account creation step — the Ad-free purchase requires an account.
  2. Sign out and sign back in to refresh your purchase state.
  3. Try "Restore Purchases" in Profile → Settings. This re-validates your purchase with the App Store or Google Play.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple App Store or Google Play. Go to your device's subscription management settings, find The Structured Musician, and cancel from there. You retain access until the end of the current billing period.

Data and Performance

The app is slow on my device

The app is optimized for budget devices, but if you experience lag:

  1. Close other apps running in the background.
  2. Make sure you're on the latest app version (check the App Store or Google Play).
  3. Restart your device.

I deleted a process by mistake

Process deletion requires a confirmation dialog — if you confirmed the deletion, the process and all its stage definitions are removed. Tracked items that were using the process remain in your Tracking tab but lose their process association. There is no undo for process deletion.
