Troubleshooting
Most issues in Panic Attack Toolkit come down to three things: a dropped connection, a cleared browser, or an expired sign-in. All three are designed to fail calmly — nothing should ever leave you with a blank screen or lost data mid-attack.
Signing In & Account
I'm asked to sign in when I open a saved page
If your session has expired (for example, you signed in weeks ago on that device), the app shows a calm sign-in prompt and explains that your data is safe server-side. Sign in and you land directly back on the page you were heading to — your plan, your log, or your insights — never dumped back on Home. If you land somewhere unexpected after signing in, close the tab and reopen the same link; the return-to-destination logic runs on the sign-in redirect.
I forgot my password
Use the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen. A reset link is sent to your account's email address. Your plan, episode history, and settings are untouched by a password reset.
I signed out (or got signed out) — is my data gone?
No. Your safety plan and episode history live server-side, not on the device. Sign back in and everything is exactly as you left it. Signing out on a shared device is safe by design: it destroys the local session only, and the signed-out app remains fully usable for relief.
I can't create an account
- Check that your email address is spelled correctly and that a confirmation email isn't in your spam folder.
- Try a different browser or a private window to rule out an extension blocking the sign-up flow.
- If the page shows an error instead of the sign-up form, see App Startup and Loading below.
The Safety Notice
The safety notice keeps appearing
The safety notice is acknowledged with a browser cookie, so it shows again if your browser storage was cleared — by privacy cleanup software, a shared-device reset, or clearing cookies manually. This is by design, not an error: the app must be able to show the safety notice to a browser it doesn't recognize. Re-acknowledge it in one tap; nothing else is lost, and it won't appear again until the cookie is cleared once more.
Relief Flows
My connection dropped mid-flow
The relief flows run entirely in your browser and make no network calls after the page loads. If your connection drops mid-flow, nothing happens to the flow — keep breathing. If you're signed in and tap "Log this session?" at the end while offline, you'll see a calm inline error on that prompt only; the completed flow itself is unaffected. Dismiss it and retry when you're back online, or just close quietly — nothing implies you lost anything, because the relief already happened.
The flow won't load at all (fresh browser, no connection)
If the app has never been visited in that browser and there's no network, you'll see a clear, calm offline state with a retry option — never a blank screen or a raw browser error. Once the app loads the first time, relief flows are cached and work offline from then on.
I need to stop a flow
Tap Pause — the pacer holds. Tap Resume to continue, or use the calm exit control (or press Esc) to return to Home. Leaving a flow is one action with no confirmation nag and no guilt copy. Leaving mid-flow is normal and expected; the app treats it as a session, not a failure.
The animation is too much for me
The visual pacer respects your system's reduced-motion setting. If your operating system or browser requests reduced motion, the animated pacer becomes a static progress indicator with phase text — same guidance, no movement. Enable "Reduce motion" in your system accessibility settings and reload the app.
The breathing pacer feels too fast
The pacer sets a calm, fixed pace per pattern, but you are never locked in: pause, breathe at your own rhythm for a few cycles, and resume when the pattern feels reachable again. The "just breathe" pattern is the gentlest option — it paces your breath without counts.
Safety Plan
My plan won't load
The plan is server-side data, so it needs a connection. When the network is unavailable, you'll see a clear offline error with a retry — never a blank screen. Your cached Home still renders and relief flows still work. Retry when connectivity returns; your plan was never at risk.
My plan looks different than I remember
Plan edits save immediately and render in the at-a-glance view right away. If someone else helped you edit it (a supporter reading from your screen), check the medications and contacts sections for recent changes. All changes are yours alone — no one else can see or edit your plan.
Episode Log
I tapped save and it says intensity is missing
Intensity has no default by design — you choose it explicitly, from 1 to 10. If you tap save without choosing, an inline message names what's missing in plain language and the focus moves to the intensity control. Everything you already entered is still there. Pick an intensity and save again.
I saved an episode while offline
A calm inline error appears and your draft is preserved in the form. Retry when connectivity returns — nothing implies the episode is lost, because it isn't: it just hasn't been sent yet.
I logged an episode twice (or on the wrong date)
Open the episode from your history, tap delete, and read the confirmation — it names the consequence in plain language ("this removes the episode and its reflection — this can't be undone") before anything happens. Confirm to remove it. Deletion is deliberate and forgiving up to the explicit confirm.
Sync & Devices
My history looks different on another device
Your data is server-side, so every signed-in device sees the same history. If a device shows an empty or stale log, check that you're signed in with the same account (Settings shows the current account), then reload the page. Signed-out devices intentionally see no history — relief still works, but nothing personal is stored in the browser.
The date or time format looks wrong
Date and time formatting follows the language selected in Settings. If it looks wrong, check the language selector in Settings — switching it updates formatting immediately.
Subscription & Billing
I upgraded but I still see ads / features are still gated
- Sign out and sign back in — your tier is resolved server-side on each session.
- Open Settings → subscription and confirm your plan shows Plus or Pro.
- If it still shows Free, wait a minute and reload; entitlement updates can take a moment to propagate from the payment provider.
- If the problem persists, contact support with the email on your account and the date of purchase.
My payment was declined
You'll see a plain-language error in the upgrade sheet — for example, that your bank declined the card. No partial entitlement is granted and you aren't charged twice; retry with another card at any time.
I want to cancel my subscription
Open Settings → subscription. Your plan, renewal cadence, and the cancel path are all visible and straightforward — no hidden cancel, no retention screens. Cancelling hands off to the subscription provider's flow, and your Plus or Pro access remains active until the end of the current billing period.
I was charged but don't see my upgrade
Check your purchase history with the payment provider first. If the charge appears there but your tier hasn't updated after signing out and back in, contact support with your receipt.
Data Export
My export won't download
- Open Settings and tap "Export my data" again — exports need a connection, since the file is assembled server-side from your history.
- Check your browser's download settings if the file downloads but you can't find it.
- Try CSV if JSON gives you trouble (or vice versa) — both contain the same fields: date, intensity, triggers, what helped, and reflections.
My export is missing something
The export includes your full episode history — every field you logged, with no truncation and no monthly limit, on every tier including free. If a field you logged isn't in the file, contact support with the episode's date and what's missing.
Accessibility
Text is cut off or requires horizontal scrolling at high zoom
The app is built to stay readable and fully visible at 150% browser zoom — no clipped content, no horizontal scrolling. If you see clipping, first try reloading the page; if it persists, contact support and include your browser, browser version, and zoom level.
Buttons are hard to hit
All interactive targets meet a 48px minimum and the app avoids pinch and drag-only gestures entirely. The episode log's intensity scale uses large, separately tappable buttons for exactly this reason. If a specific control is hard to hit, contact support and tell us which screen it's on.
I navigate by keyboard
All controls — including pausing or leaving a relief flow (Esc) — are keyboard-reachable. If focus gets stuck or disappears on a screen, contact support with the page and the steps you took.
Shared Shell Features
App Startup and Loading
The page won't load or looks stuck? The app loads in your browser like any website. A cold load on a mid-range phone normally takes under 2 seconds; on a slow connection it can take longer.
If a page won't load or appears stuck:
- Refresh the browser tab.
- Check your internet connection — the first load of each visit needs network access.
- If part of the page is missing, you may see a calm note that some content could not load — the rest of the app still works, including relief flows. Reload when connectivity returns to restore the missing part.
- If a server-dependent screen (plan, log, insights) can't load, it shows a clear error with a retry rather than a blank screen — retry after checking your connection.
After your first visit, relief flows are cached and work with no network at all.
