How to Upgrade to Remove Ads

Ray has been using the Free tier for 19 days when an ad loads slowly and freezes the app mid-drill. He upgrades to Plus in about 2 minutes — the purchase feels like buying a coffee, and he's back to drilling without interruption.

What the Ad-Free Upgrade Includes​

  • No banner ads on any screen
  • No interstitial ads between drill sessions
  • All Free tier features remain active (all categories, both drill modes, spaced repetition, progress tracking, streaks)

When Ads Appear on the Free Tier​

  • Banner ads — bottom of the Study tab (category list) and Progress tab, not during active drill sessions
  • Interstitial ads — between drill sessions, with frequency capping (approximately every 3 sessions, not after every one)

Steps​

  1. Encounter an ad or go to Settings → Remove Ads (or tap the "Remove Ads" text link visible near ads on the Study/Progress tabs).

  2. View the upgrade options — you can purchase:

    • Ad-free (one-time IAP) — removes all ads permanently, no subscription required
    • Basic Subscription — removes ads plus adds cloud sync (useful if you want sync as well)

  3. Tap your preferred option.

  4. Create an account (if you're anonymous) — ad-free and subscriptions require an account. Sign in with Google, Apple, or a magic link. Your drill history carries over via linkIdentity().

  5. Complete the purchase — App Store or Google Play payment flow. One-time IAP charges once; subscription bills monthly or annually.

  6. Confirmation — ads disappear immediately. No app restart required.

Expected Outcome​

  • All ads removed from all screens
  • Drill sessions run uninterrupted
  • Purchase is permanent (one-time IAP) or active for the subscription period

Restoring a Purchase on a New Device​

Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. This re-validates your purchase with the App Store or Google Play. You must be signed into the same account used for the original purchase.
