How to Browse the Practice Library
Who this is for: Anyone wanting to explore practices beyond the Compassion Break, or who wants to focus on a specific pillar or fit a practice into a particular amount of time.
Keiko is a pragmatic web user who evaluates practice duration before committing. She browses the library from her desktop, reads the descriptions, and picks what fits her current schedule. The library's filtering makes this quick.
Steps
-
Open the Practice tab. Tap or click Practice in the bottom navigation. The library opens showing all available practices, with pillar filter buttons at the top.
-
Filter by pillar (optional). Tap one of the three pillar buttons to narrow the list:
- Self-Kindness — practices focused on warm self-talk, self-care gestures, and treating yourself as you would a close friend.
- Common Humanity — practices focused on shared experience, connection, and recognizing you are not alone in your struggles.
- Mindfulness — practices focused on present-moment awareness, emotional observation, and grounding.
Tap All to return to the full library.
-
Filter by duration (optional). Use the duration selector to show only practices that fit your available time. Options typically include: Under 5 min, 5–10 min, 10–20 min, 20+ min.
-
Read a practice description. Tap any practice card to open its detail view. The detail view shows the full description, pillar tags, duration, and whether it is available on your current tier. Free users see which practices require Plus.
-
Start the practice. Tap Begin Practice on the detail screen. The practice launches — some are text-based and self-paced, others include guided audio.
-
Complete the practice. Follow the on-screen instructions. Tap Complete or let the audio finish. The practice is logged in your history automatically.
Expected Outcome
The practice is recorded in your history and visible under your recent activity on the Home tab. If you completed a mood check-in after, that data is also saved to the Progress tab.
Notes
- Practices locked behind Plus show a lock icon. Tapping them shows what Plus includes and offers an upgrade path.
- The free tier includes a curated selection of practices from each pillar — enough to work with all three pillars without subscribing.
- Keiko's typical workflow: filter to "Under 5 min," scan descriptions, choose one that fits the current situation. Duration information is always shown on the practice card so you never have to guess how long something will take.
- On web, the Practice tab works identically to mobile. Keyboard navigation is supported — use Tab to move between practice cards and Enter to open.
- Practices do not require a network connection once the app has loaded. Content is delivered on-device.
