How to Browse the Library and Unlock Clusters

Desmond is a management consultant who skips "Daily Life" clusters entirely and focuses on Work and Academic content. He wants to find every cluster related to urgency, persuasion, and professional communication. The Library is his tool for doing that deliberately.

Browse by Domain

  1. Tap the Library tab
  2. Domain cards appear: Emotions, Work, Social, Descriptions, Academic, Daily Life
  3. Each card shows a completion progress indicator (e.g., "3 of 8 clusters mastered")
  4. Tap a domain card to see all clusters within it, organized by difficulty

Understanding Cluster Status

Each cluster card shows its current status:

  • Not started — available to begin
  • In progress — started but not yet marked complete
  • Mastered — cluster completed and words progressed through review

Locked clusters are visible but grayed out with unlock requirements shown: "Complete 2 Beginner clusters to unlock Intermediate."

How to Unlock Intermediate and Advanced Clusters

The progressive unlock system ensures you build a foundation before tackling advanced nuance:

  • Intermediate clusters unlock after completing 2 Beginner clusters in the same domain
  • Advanced clusters unlock after completing 2 Intermediate clusters in the same domain

Rosalind completed "Conversation Dynamics" and "Politeness & Diplomacy" (both Beginner, Social domain). When she opens Social in the Library, the Intermediate clusters now appear unlocked — with full color and a "New" badge. The "Complete 2 Beginner clusters to unlock" text is gone.

Search for a Specific Word or Cluster

  1. On the Library tab, tap the search bar at the top
  2. Type a word name, cluster name, or domain name
  3. Auto-suggestions appear as you type (under 300ms)
  4. Search results show:
    • Words: the word, its cluster, a definition preview, and domain
    • Clusters: cluster name, domain, difficulty, and completion status
  5. Tap a result to open the Cluster Detail screen

Desmond searched for "urgency" and found the "Work: Urgency & Priority" cluster immediately. He completed the entire cluster in one sitting.

Filter the Library

  1. On the Library tab, tap the filter icon
  2. Filter options:
    • Domain — multi-select one or more domains
    • Difficulty — Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
    • Status — not started, in progress, mastered
  3. Tap Apply — active filter chips appear below the search bar
  4. Tap Clear All to reset filters

Keiko filters to "Emotions" domain + "not started" status to find her last uncompleted Emotions cluster.

Expected Outcome

You navigate directly to the clusters most relevant to your learning goals — no browsing through content you've already mastered or domains you're not interested in.

Tips

  • Use the domain progress indicator on each card to see where you have the most to gain
  • The Library search works offline against your locally-cached cluster data
  • Locked clusters are visible — you can preview the cluster name and difficulty, which helps you plan your path through a domain
  • Filter state persists during your session, so you can browse filtered results and return to the Library without re-applying filters
