Troubleshooting
Sign-In and Account Issues
I can't sign in with Google or Apple
- Check your internet connection — sign-in requires network access.
- Make sure you're using the same Google or Apple account you originally linked.
- Close the app completely and reopen it, then try again.
- For Apple Sign-In: go to device Settings → your name → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID and confirm the app is listed.
- For Google Sign-In on Android: make sure the Google account is active on your device in Settings → Accounts.
I signed in but my reminders are missing
- Check that you're signed into the same account (verify in Profile).
- Data stored under an anonymous session is only migrated to your account if you upgraded the session before signing out. If you signed out while anonymous and created a new account later, those are separate sessions.
- If you recently reinstalled the app with the same Plus/Pro account, your reminders and journal sync back automatically within a few minutes. Pull down on My Reminders to trigger a manual sync.
I accidentally signed out — is my data still there?
Anonymous data is stored on your device. If the app is still installed and storage hasn't been cleared, your reminders are intact — reopening the app resumes the anonymous session. If you reinstalled or cleared app data, anonymous data cannot be recovered (it was never uploaded to the cloud).
Push Notifications
I'm not receiving any notifications
- Check that notification permissions are granted: device Settings → Apps → Random Reminders → Notifications (on Android).
- Open the app, go to Profile → Notification Settings, and confirm notifications are toggled on and the master toggle is enabled.
- Check your quiet hours setting — if your current time falls within your configured quiet hours, no notifications will fire.
- Make sure you have at least 1 active reminder in your collection. The app will not send notifications if your reminder pool is empty.
- If you have all reminders set to Once-a-Year mode, notifications will only fire on anniversary dates.
I get too many (or too few) notifications
Go to Profile → Notification Settings and adjust the frequency: 1, 3, 5, or 10 notifications per day. You can also set quiet hours to restrict the time window.
Notifications stopped after I reinstalled or updated the app
On Android, reinstalling or updating an app can reset local notification schedules. Open the app and navigate to any screen — the notification schedule is rebuilt on next app launch. If notifications still don't arrive after a few hours, go to Profile → Notification Settings and toggle notifications off and back on.
A notification opened the app but I don't see the reminder
The notification is designed to open the reminder's detail screen directly. If the detail screen isn't showing:
- Check your internet connection — the reminder detail needs to load from local storage (this works offline, so connection shouldn't matter).
- Close the app completely and reopen it.
- Find the reminder manually by searching in My Reminders.
Sync Issues (Plus subscribers)
My reminders aren't syncing to my second device
- Confirm you're signed into the same account on both devices (check Profile).
- Check that both devices have an active internet connection.
- Pull down on My Reminders to force a manual sync on both devices.
- If data is still missing after 5 minutes, sign out and sign back in on the receiving device.
Changes I made offline aren't syncing
Offline changes are stored locally and sync automatically when you reconnect. The sync indicator at the top of the screen shows when sync is active. If the pending state persists, try signing out and back in.
Offline Mode
The app shows an offline indicator but I have Wi-Fi
The offline indicator reflects the app's connection to the Edgeless Platform — not just your device's Wi-Fi status. All reminders, journal entries, and push notifications work fully offline. The indicator is informational only and does not block any core features.
The Community tab isn't loading
The Community tab requires a network connection since it reads from a shared remote database. All other tabs (My Reminders, Discover, Journal, Profile) work offline.
Subscriptions and Billing
I upgraded to Plus but the reminder limit is still enforced
- Sign out and sign back in to refresh your subscription status.
- Confirm the subscription is active in your Google Play subscription management.
- Try Profile → Settings → Restore Purchases.
I purchased Ad-free but ads are still showing
- Confirm you completed account creation during the purchase flow — the Ad-free purchase requires an account.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Use Restore Purchases in Profile → Settings to re-validate your purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Google Play. Go to Play Store → your profile → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions, find Random Reminders, and cancel from there. You retain Plus access until the end of the current billing period.
Data and Content
I deleted a reminder by mistake
Reminder deletion requires a confirmation dialog. If you confirmed the deletion, the reminder and any journal entries linked to it are removed. There is no undo. If it was a curated reminder from the Discover tab, you can re-save it from there. If it was a community reminder, you can search the Community tab to re-save it.
The app is slow on my device
- Close other apps running in the background.
- Update to the latest app version.
- Restart your device.
Still Need Help?
