How to Create a Custom Word List

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to play with a themed word set — party words, classroom vocabulary, or any other custom collection.

Aisha wants to create a "Party Words" bad words list for adult game night so the game revolves around her custom vocabulary.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Word Lists tab using the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Tap the "+" button to create a new list.
  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Party Words") and optional description.
  4. Set the list type:
    • Game Dictionary — words are valid for normal word validation
    • Bad Words — words trigger the bad word mechanic and can be used with "Bad Word Requirement" in Advanced Rules
  5. Add words manually. Type a word in the input field and tap the add button. The word appears in the list and the word count updates in real-time.
  6. Continue adding words. There's no minimum; most lists benefit from at least 20–30 words for a good game experience.
  7. Tap Save. The list appears in the "My Lists" section of the Word Lists tab.
  8. Use it in a game. When setting up a game, the list is available in the word list dropdown. For a Bad Words list, select it under the "Bad Words" option in game setup.

Expected Outcome

Your custom list is created, tagged with the correct type, and available immediately in game setup. The word count shows correctly in the list overview.

Notes

  • Custom lists are stored locally on your device.
  • Lists can hold up to 10,000 words each.
  • You can have up to 50 custom lists.
  • To delete a custom list, long-press or swipe it in the Word Lists tab and confirm deletion. Built-in lists cannot be deleted.
