How to Upgrade to Plus
Who this is for: Free tier users who want to remove ads, play online with friends, or access the Medium AI.
Jess has been playing family games for a month. An interstitial ad appeared after a close game with her partner. She wants to remove ads and try online play with her sister across town.
Steps
- Trigger the upgrade naturally. An interstitial ad after a completed game shows "Remove Ads — Upgrade to Plus." Tap "Learn More." Alternatively, go to Settings → Subscription and tap "Upgrade."
- Review the Plus benefits on the paywall screen: no ads, online multiplayer, Medium AI ("Scholar"), and cloud sync.
- Tap "Subscribe" and choose a monthly or annual plan.
- Create an account if you're currently on an anonymous session. The flow prompts Google Sign-In (or magic link). This links your subscription to your identity.
- Complete the Google Play subscription flow.
- Plus activates immediately. Ads disappear from all screens. Your tier badge in Settings updates to "Plus."
Expected Outcome
Ads are gone immediately. Online multiplayer is available from the "New Game" screen. Medium AI ("Scholar") is selectable in game setup.
Notes
- Your existing game history and settings are preserved during the account upgrade — no data is lost.
- If you cancel the sign-in or purchase step, you remain on the Free tier with no charge.
- To restore a subscription after reinstalling, go to Settings → Restore Purchases.
- Manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play → Subscriptions → Big Bad Words.
