How to Import a Process Template
Elara, a college composition student, was told by her professor that professional musicians follow repeatable processes. She imports the Songwriting template as her first process and customizes the stage names to match her academic terminology — all in under 3 minutes.
When This Applies
Use this when you want a starting point instead of defining all your stages from scratch. Templates are available for Songwriting, Recording & Production, Mixing & Mastering, and Release & Marketing.
Steps
-
Go to the Processes tab (second tab in the bottom navigation).
-
See the empty state — if you have no processes yet, the Processes tab shows the four pre-built templates with "Use This Template" buttons.
-
Tap "Use This Template" on the template you want. This creates a personal copy — you are editing your own version, not the shared template.
-
The process opens in the editor — review the stages. You can immediately rename stages, add done-criteria to each stage, reorder stages by dragging, or delete stages you don't need (minimum 2 stages required).
-
Tap Save — your customized process appears on the Processes tab with the correct stage count.
-
Check the Dashboard — a new progress level card appears for your process at "Getting Started" level.
Available Templates
| Template | Typical Stages |
|---|---|
| Songwriting | Idea Capture, Draft, Arrangement, Recording, Mixing, Review, Release |
| Recording & Production | Pre-Production, Tracking, Overdubs, Editing, Mix Prep, Delivery |
| Mixing & Mastering | Rough Mix, Revision, Final Mix, Mastering, File Export |
| Release & Marketing | Release Plan, Artwork, Pre-Save Campaign, Distribution, Promotion, Post-Release |
Exact stage names and counts may vary — these are the recommended starting points.
Customizing After Import
Importing a template creates a personal copy — any changes you make affect only your process. You can:
- Rename any stage (max 30 characters)
- Add "done criteria" to each stage (max 150 characters) to describe what completing the stage means
- Reorder stages by dragging
- Delete stages (the process requires at least 2 stages)
- Add new stages (up to 15 total)
Expected Outcome
After importing and customizing:
- The Processes tab shows your process with the correct stage count
- The Dashboard shows a new progress level card for this process at "Getting Started"
- You can immediately start adding songs to this process from the Tracking tab
