How to Browse the Category Tree
Who this is for: Anyone who wants to explore prompts organized by life topic rather than accepting what Prompt Me suggests.
Elena wants to write about her parents specifically — she browses People → Family → Parents to find the right prompt.
Steps
- Tap the "Categories" tile on the dashboard.
- See the top-level categories (e.g., People, Places, Work, Health, Culture).
- Tap a category to expand it. Sub-categories appear beneath it.
- Tap a sub-category to expand it further. Prompts at the third level appear.
- Tap a prompt to open the memory editor with that prompt as context.
- Write your response and save. The memory is linked to the category path you followed.
Expected Outcome
Your memory is saved and tagged with the category path (e.g., People → Family → Parents). This makes it findable through the category tree later. The memory appears in the Memories list and on the Timeline with its date.
Tips
- The category tree has three levels. Not all categories have prompts at every level — some prompts are at the second level.
- Writing through categories is a systematic way to build a complete life archive: work through each branch at your own pace.
