How to Add a Fuzzy Location to a Memory
Who this is for: Anyone who remembers roughly where something happened but not an exact address.
Carlos is writing about his Patagonia backpacking trip. He remembers the general region but not a specific town.
Steps
- Open the memory editor — create a new memory or tap "Edit" on an existing one.
- Tap the location field. The whereish geographic picker opens.
- Select the continent. Tap the continent where the memory took place (e.g., South America).
- Select the country (optional). Narrow to a country if you remember it.
- Select a state or region (optional). Further refine if you remember the region.
- Select a city (optional). Add a city if you know it.
- Stop at any level you're comfortable with. You don't have to go all the way to city — "Patagonia, Argentina" is a valid location without a specific city.
- Tap "Done" to apply the location.
- Save the memory.
Expected Outcome
The memory's location shows on its detail view at the level you selected. The Whereline map displays a pin at the geographic centroid of your chosen area. Tap the pin on the Whereline to preview or open the memory.
Tips
- The Whereline shows pins at the most specific level you entered. A pin for "South America" appears at the continent's center; a pin for "Buenos Aires" appears on the city.
- You can update the location level any time by editing the memory.
- Memories without a location don't appear on the Whereline but are still fully accessible in the Memories list and Timeline.
