How Feature Gates Work (Free Tier)

Who this is for: Free tier users who encounter a Plus or Pro feature.

James taps "Export PDF" and sees a screen he hasn't seen before. He wants to understand what's happening.

What You'll See

When you tap a feature that requires Plus or Pro:

1. An informative dialog appears. It explains what the feature does, which tier includes it, and the current subscription price.
2. Two options are shown:
   • "Upgrade to Plus" — opens the subscription screen where you can subscribe.
   • "Maybe Later" — dismisses the dialog and returns you to what you were doing. None of your current work is lost.

What Doesn't Happen

• Your Free features are never blocked or restricted.
• The dialog is shown once per feature attempt — not repeatedly on every navigation.
• Dismissing the dialog has no penalty. You can tap "Maybe Later" as many times as you want.
