How to Link People, Places, and Tags to a Memory

Who this is for: Anyone who wants to connect the people, places, and things in their memories so they can find related entries later.

Priya is writing about Diwali with her family. She wants to link her grandmother (Dadi), the city of Mumbai, and the tag "family" so this memory appears on all their profiles.

Steps

  1. Open the memory editor — create a new memory or edit an existing one.
  2. Find the entity chip bar below the date and location fields. It shows chips for linked people, places, things, and tags.
  3. Add a person:
    • Tap "Add Person" in the chip bar.
    • Search for an existing person or tap "Create New Person" to add them.
    • Tap the person's name to confirm the link.
  4. Add a place:
    • Tap "Add Place" in the chip bar.
    • Search for an existing place or create a new one using the whereish picker.
    • Tap to confirm.
  5. Add tags:
    • Tap "Add Tag" in the chip bar.
    • Type a tag name or select from existing tags.
    • Add as many tags as you like.
  6. Add things (optional): tap "Add Thing" and follow the same pattern.
  7. Save the memory.

Expected Outcome

All linked entities appear as chips on the memory detail view. The links are bidirectional:

  • The person's profile shows this memory in their linked memory list.
  • The place appears as a pin on the Whereline.
  • Tags appear in the tag's entity page.

Tips

  • You can add, edit, or remove entity links at any time by editing the memory.
  • Linking the same person to many memories builds a complete timeline you can browse from their profile.
  • Tags can be applied to memories, people, places, and things — making them the most flexible way to group related items.
