How to Read Your Safety Plan Mid-Attack

Who this is for: Anyone with an account who prepared a safety plan on a calm day and needs it now — and the supporters who may be reading it aloud.

Ruth's plan has all five sections filled in. Mid-attack, at 150% zoom, she needs the whole thing readable at a glance: large, calm typography, her three contacts visible without scrolling, no jargon. The plan view is designed to be read while distressed — or read aloud by someone else.

Steps

  1. Open the Plan page. Sign in if you're asked to — a calm prompt explains your plan is safe server-side, and after signing in you land directly back on your plan.

  2. Read the five sections at a glance. Your warning signs, what helps, your three contacts, your medications, and your note to yourself render in large, calm typography. Your contacts are visible without scrolling.

  3. Hand the screen to someone else if that helps. The plan is written to be read aloud — a supporter can pick it up and follow it without explanation.

  4. Empty sections stay gentle. If a section was never filled in, it shows a gentle prompt to complete it on a calm day — never an error.

Expected Outcome

The plan view renders fully at a glance, with nothing written and nothing changed. Your plan data is stored server-side, visible only to you.

Notes

  • Mid-attack is the plan's whole purpose. Prepare it on a calm day; read it on a hard one. See updating your medications for the calm-day editing flow.
  • Offline is a clear error, not a blank screen. The plan is server-side data, so it needs a connection. Without one you'll see a clear offline state with a retry — your cached Home and relief flows still work.
  • Your session expired? Your plan didn't. Sign in again and you return straight to the plan — never dumped on Home.
  • Supporters: read from their screen, not yours. The plan belongs to the person having the attack; reading it aloud from their device keeps their data theirs.
