How Ads Stay in Their Lane on the Free Tier
Who this is for: Free-tier users who want to know exactly where ads appear — and, more importantly, where they never do.
Priya is skeptical of wellness apps that interrupt the moment they're supposed to serve. The demo point here is the exclusion, not the ad: ads never appear in relief flows, the plan view, education, or onboarding. That exclusion is verified by route-level tests, not just policy.
Steps
-
Notice the ad placement on Home. As a Free user, you may see an ad in an approved placement — the Home footer. It stays there; it doesn't follow you.
-
Start a relief flow. Tap Breathing, Grounding, or Anchoring. The flow screen contains no ad slot, no layout shift, and no interruption of any kind.
-
Use the app normally. The plan view, education pages, and onboarding are likewise ad-free. The moments that matter are never monetized.
Expected Outcome
An ad renders only in its approved placement, and your relief flow is completely unaffected — no layout shift, no waiting, no interruption.
Notes
- If an ad fails to load, you'll likely never know. The placement collapses silently without shifting the layout — no error toast, no empty ad box, no retry spinner in your face.
- EU users see a consent prompt first. GDPR consent is requested before any personalized ad; without consent, ads are non-personalized.
- Plus removes ads entirely. See upgrading to Plus — no ads is one of Plus's two headline benefits.
- The free tier still fully solves the core problem. Ads fund the free tier; they never gate relief.
